How to set up a ManyCam stream key and multistream
ManyCam needs a server address and a stream key to go live, and for multistreaming both come from Upstream. ManyCam sends one stream to Upstream, and Upstream copies it to up to 10 platforms.
That is why ManyCam Standard is enough: it includes one RTMP stream, and one is all Upstream needs. You only need Studio or Premium if you want ManyCam itself to send several streams. Whether the free version can stream over RTMP isn't something ManyCam documents, so test it first.
- ManyCam 8 or later
- Works with ManyCam Standard
Before you start
- An Upstream account (the free plan is enough to test)
- ManyCam 8 or later on Windows or Mac
- The platforms you want to go live on
Step 1
Get your server URL and stream key from Upstream
In Upstream, press Create stream, choose Multistream from OBS (it works for any RTMP app or device) and add your platforms, up to 10. The stream opens in Live Studio with the RTMP input on. For a stream you already have, open Live Studio, Source and set Live Source to RTMP.
- RTMP Server URL
rtmp://ingest.upstream.so:1935/live- Stream Key
- Unique to each stream. Copy it from Upstream and keep it private.
Step 2
Add Upstream as a custom server in ManyCam
In ManyCam, click Stream to open Configure & Start Stream and choose Add Custom Server. Type Upstream as the Name, paste the RTMP Server URL into Server and the Stream Key into Stream key. Leave Access required off and click Add Server.
Set the picture to 1920x1080 at 30 fps (60 if your Upstream stream is set to 60 fps) with the dropdowns in ManyCam's main window. The video bitrate is under the ManyCam menu, Settings, RTMP Streaming.
Step 3
Start the stream, then go live
Start the stream in Upstream first, then start streaming from ManyCam. Live Studio switches from Not connected to Excellent, Good or Poor connection when the feed arrives, and Upstream sends it to every platform on the stream.
Troubleshooting
I added the server but ManyCam isn't streaming
Adding a server only saves it. Click Stream to start sending. If Upstream still says Not connected, check that the server address and key are in their own fields.
1080p isn't in the resolution list
Turn on HD resolutions under the ManyCam menu, Settings, Video, then pick 1920x1080 in the main window.
ManyCam asks for a login
Switch Access required off in the custom server settings. Upstream uses the stream key, not a username and password.
For connection problems that aren't specific to ManyCam, such as Not connected, a poor connection or a leaked key, see the full RTMP troubleshooting list.
FAQ
Where do I get a stream key for ManyCam?
From the service you stream to. For multistreaming that is Upstream: open your stream's Live Studio, Source, set it to RTMP and copy the Stream Key. To stream to YouTube alone, see how to find your YouTube stream key.
Which ManyCam plan do I need?
Standard is enough. It includes one RTMP stream in Full HD with no watermark, and Upstream turns that one stream into up to 10.
Checked against ManyCam RTMP streaming, ManyCam plans and the Upstream app, October 2026.
