Set up Mevo Start or Core streaming through Upstream
Mevo Studio streams a Mevo Start or Core to a Custom RTMP destination. Make that destination Upstream, and Upstream sends the camera to up to 10 platforms.
Mevo's own multistreaming is part of Mevo Pro. Sending to one Custom RTMP destination is a separate feature: Mevo doesn't mark it as paid, but doesn't spell out which plans include it either. Check in the app before you plan an event around it.
- Mevo Start or Mevo Core
- One destination in Mevo
Before you start
- An Upstream account (the free plan is enough to test)
- A Mevo Start or Mevo Core and the Mevo Studio app
- The platforms you want to go live on
Step 1
Get your server URL and stream key from Upstream
In Upstream, press Create stream, choose Multistream from OBS (it works for any RTMP app or device) and add your platforms, up to 10. The stream opens in Live Studio with the RTMP input on. For a stream you already have, open Live Studio, Source and set Live Source to RTMP.
- RTMP Server URL
rtmp://ingest.upstream.so:1935/live- Stream Key
- Unique to each stream. Copy it from Upstream and keep it private.
Step 2
Add Upstream as a Custom RTMP destination
In Mevo Studio's live edit view, tap Live and choose Custom RTMP. Give it a name, paste the RTMP Server URL into RTMP URL and the Stream Key into Stream Key, then tap Update. Tap the saved destination to select it.
Step 3
Set the stream quality
With the destination selected, open Live, Stream Settings. Mevo recommends a bitrate of about half your upload speed. Its ranges:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| 1080p | 1.2 to 6 Mbps 1080p is a starting point. Upstream input follows the resolution selected on your stream, up to 4K on a plan that includes it. |
| 720p | 0.7 to 2 Mbps A fallback for a slower upload. |
Each platform also caps bitrate and stream length on its side. See the live streaming limits for YouTube, Twitch, Kick and more.
Step 4
Start the stream, then go live
Start the stream in Upstream first, then start streaming from Mevo Studio. Live Studio switches from Not connected to Excellent, Good or Poor connection when the feed arrives, and Upstream sends it to every platform on the stream.
Troubleshooting
I saved the destination but Upstream gets nothing
Update only saves it. Select the destination, start the Upstream stream, then tap Go Live in Mevo Studio.
The picture breaks up at 1080p
Lower the bitrate in Stream Settings to about half your upload speed, or drop to 720p. The bandwidth calculator measures your upload.
My guide mentions Mevo Multicam
That is the old name. The app is now called Mevo Studio, and the steps are the same.
For connection problems that aren't specific to Mevo Studio, such as Not connected, a poor connection or a leaked key, see the full RTMP troubleshooting list.
FAQ
Do I need Mevo Pro for a Custom RTMP destination?
Mevo Pro is needed for Mevo's own multistreaming. Mevo doesn't mark a single Custom RTMP destination as paid, but doesn't state its plan rules plainly either, so check in the app.
Can I stream a Mevo to YouTube and Facebook at once?
Yes. Send Mevo to Upstream and add both to the stream in Upstream: YouTube by signing in, Facebook with a persistent stream key.
Checked against Mevo help center and the Upstream app, October 2026.
