Affiliate program Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Agreement”) govern your participation in our affiliate program (the “Program”) and establish the terms and conditions of the Program. By participating in the Program, you agree to abide by these terms.
Updated October 16, 2026. These terms take effect on November 16, 2026. Until then, the previous version applies.

Self-referrals are not allowed

You are not permitted to sign up for upstream.so through your own affiliate link. This includes accounts for yourself, your team, your family or your own business. If we detect any self-referrals, your account will be permanently banned and any commission earned will be forfeited.

Abuse or attempting to mislead

We do not tolerate attempts to abuse our affiliate system. Any attempt to mislead, manipulate, or defraud us or potential customers will result in your account being permanently banned. This includes posting fake discounts to coupon-sharing websites or engaging in any other activity that violates our policies. Keep your link and code on your own channels: your videos, streams, posts, website or newsletter. Sign-ups from links or codes posted on coupon or deal sites don’t earn commission.

No search engine ads, Facebook ads, or other ads that compete with our own marketing

You are not allowed to run any search engine ads (especially on branded terms or domain names), Facebook ads, or other ads that would compete with our own marketing and potentially cause confusion for customers. This also covers ads on searches that combine a competitor’s name with ours, and ads that link straight to upstream.so. We reserve the right to terminate your account if we detect any such activity.

No pretending to be acting on behalf of us (i.e., as an employee)

You are not allowed to impersonate us or pretend to be acting on our behalf. This includes posing as an employee or representative of upstream.so

Commission Structure

You earn 20% of every payment from a customer you referred, for as long as their subscription stays active. The 20% is calculated on what the customer actually pays, after any discount or coupon.
If a payment is refunded or charged back, its commission is removed. If that commission was already paid out, we take it off your next payout.

Who Counts as Your Referral

A customer counts as yours when they create a new Upstream account within 60 days of clicking your affiliate link. People who already had an Upstream account before they clicked your link don’t count, including former customers who come back.

Payment Schedule and Methods

Commission payments are issued on a net-30 schedule, which means that earnings from a particular month are disbursed 30 days following that month’s end. The minimum payout is $30. If your balance is lower, it rolls over to the next month. Affiliates can choose to receive their payments via PayPal or Wise.

Tell Your Audience You’re Paid

Whenever you promote Upstream with your link or code, say clearly that you earn a commission, or that we paid you if it’s sponsored content.

  • In videos and streams, say it out loud near the start and show it on screen. A line in the description alone isn’t enough.
  • Also turn on the platform’s paid promotion label, for example YouTube’s “Includes paid promotion”. It adds to your own disclosure, it doesn’t replace it.
  • Next to your link, add a plain line such as “I earn a commission if you sign up through this link.”
  • Only say things about Upstream that are true, and don’t say you’re a customer if you’re not.

Content without a clear disclosure earns no commission until it’s fixed.

Leaving the Program

You can leave at any time. If you leave in good standing, approved commission is still paid out, and you keep earning on the customers you already referred for as long as the Program runs. If we remove you for breaking these terms, any unpaid commission is forfeited.

Changes to the Terms of Service

We may change these terms. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a change takes effect and post the new version on this page. A change never lowers the commission you earn on customers you already referred.

By participating in our affiliate program, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to terminate your participation in the Program at any time and for any reason if you violate these terms.
