How to multistream from Streamlabs Desktop
Streamlabs Desktop can send its stream to any custom server. Make that server Upstream, and Upstream copies the stream to every platform you add, up to 10 at once. You keep your scenes, alerts and widgets in Streamlabs, and Upstream handles where the stream goes.
Streamlabs needs two values from Upstream: a server address and a stream key, the private code that marks the stream as yours. Upstream takes in up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
- Streamlabs Desktop
- Keeps your scenes and alerts
Before you start
- An Upstream account (the free plan is enough to test)
- Streamlabs Desktop on the computer you stream from
- The platforms you want to go live on
Step 1
Get your server URL and stream key from Upstream
In Upstream, press Create stream, choose Multistream from OBS (it works for any RTMP app or device) and add your platforms, up to 10. The stream opens in Live Studio with the RTMP input on. For a stream you already have, open Live Studio, Source and set Live Source to RTMP.
- RTMP Server URL
rtmp://ingest.upstream.so:1935/live- Stream Key
- Unique to each stream. Copy it from Upstream and keep it private.
Step 2
Paste the details into Streamlabs
In Streamlabs Desktop, open Settings and go to Stream. Choose Custom Streaming Server, then paste the RTMP Server URL and the Stream Key into the two fields and save.
Optional: bring over the output settings. In Upstream, pick Streamlabs Desktop in the software list and press Download OBS import profile. Import it into OBS first, then in Streamlabs Desktop go to Settings, General, OBS Import. You still type the server URL and stream key into Streamlabs by hand.
Step 3
Start the stream, then go live
Start the stream in Upstream first, then start streaming from Streamlabs. Live Studio switches from Not connected to Excellent, Good or Poor connection when the feed arrives, and Upstream sends it to every platform on the stream.
Troubleshooting
I can't find where the stream key goes
It is under Settings, Stream once you pick Custom Streaming Server. The server URL and the key go in separate fields. Use the pair from the same Upstream stream.
The imported profile didn't bring my key
That is expected. The OBS import carries output settings, not the server and key. Type both into Streamlabs under Settings, Stream.
For connection problems that aren't specific to Streamlabs, such as Not connected, a poor connection or a leaked key, see the full RTMP troubleshooting list.

How do I multistream from Streamlabs Desktop?
Send Streamlabs to Upstream as a custom streaming server, then add your platforms in Upstream. Streamlabs uploads one stream, and Upstream sends it to up to 10 platforms.
Do I keep my Streamlabs alerts and overlays?
Yes. They are part of what Streamlabs sends, so every platform gets the same picture with your alerts on it.
