Osee GoStream Deck and Duet custom RTMP setup

The Osee GoStream Deck and Duet stream to a custom URL from the GoStream PC software. Point them at Upstream and Upstream sends the stream to up to 10 platforms.

One catch: a custom URL entered in the PC software is temporary and isn't kept on the switcher. To keep Upstream in the switcher's platform list, save it as a streaming XML file, as described below. Osee documents this for firmware above v2.1.4 and PC software above v1.2.0.

  • GoStream Deck or Duet
  • Firmware above v2.1.4

Before you start

  • An Upstream account (the free plan is enough to test)
  • A GoStream Deck or Duet on firmware above v2.1.4, with PC software above v1.2.0
  • The platforms you want to go live on

Step 1

Get your server URL and stream key from Upstream

In Upstream, press Create stream, choose Multistream from OBS (it works for any RTMP app or device) and add your platforms, up to 10. The stream opens in Live Studio with the RTMP input on. For a stream you already have, open Live Studio, Source and set Live Source to RTMP.

RTMP Server URL
rtmp://ingest.upstream.so:1935/live
Stream Key
Unique to each stream. Copy it from Upstream and keep it private.
Live Studio, Source, set to RTMP. The stream key stays hidden until you press the eye icon.

Step 2

Paste the details into the GoStream software

In the GoStream PC software, open the Stream section and set Platform to Custom URL H.264. Paste the RTMP Server URL into URL and the Stream Key into Stream Key. Click GO LIVE once the Upstream stream is started.

Step 3

Start the stream, then go live

Start the stream in Upstream first, then start streaming from the GoStream. Live Studio switches from Not connected to Excellent, Good or Poor connection when the feed arrives, and Upstream sends it to every platform on the stream.

Save Upstream as a GoStream platform

In the PC software, use Create Stream XML File: enter Upstream as the Platform Name and the RTMP Server URL as the Server URL, then export it. With a GoStream connected, it uploads on its own. Otherwise the software saves a Streaming.xml file.

To load that file from an SD card, put it in a stream_setting folder on the card and choose MENU, Stream, load setting, Load on the switcher. Either way, the file only holds the server. Add your key separately: pick Upstream as the platform in the software's Stream section and type it into Stream Key. The platform stays until a factory reset.

Troubleshooting

Upstream disappeared from the platform list

A custom URL in the PC software is temporary. Save Upstream with Create Stream XML File to keep it. A factory reset also removes saved platforms.

The XML loaded but nothing streams

The XML file holds the server, not the key. Select the Upstream platform in the Stream section and enter the Stream Key before GO LIVE.

There is no Custom URL H.264 option

Update to firmware above v2.1.4 and PC software above v1.2.0, then look under Platform in the Stream section.

For connection problems that aren't specific to the GoStream, such as Not connected, a poor connection or a leaked key, see the full RTMP troubleshooting list.

FAQ

Is the GoStream setup the same as the ATEM Mini's?

No. The GoStream takes a custom URL directly in its PC software, while the ATEM Mini needs an XML file loaded first. Both end up sending to Upstream.

Does this cover the GoStream Duet 8 ISO?

Not the SD card part. Osee's Duet 8 ISO instructions use a different folder, so follow those for that model.
