Stings, jingles and ads, dropped into your playlist

A short clip or sound that plays between the main content: a channel ident, a station jingle, a subscribe reminder, an ad or a sponsor read. In Upstream they’re called inserts.

In the stream’s Background settings, set Video-triggered Inserts to Every Nth Video Item and pick the number, then add the inserts. The same works for songs with Audio-triggered Inserts. An offset lets it play a few seconds after a video starts, or before it ends.

Yes. Choose Time Interval and set the hours, minutes and seconds between inserts, 10 minutes by default.

Yes. Open the file’s menu, choose Add Inserts and set the time with Trigger At (HH:MM:SS). Add as many as you need, at different times. When the insert ends, the video carries on.

You choose per insert: pause the background queue, pause the audio playlist, mute the insert’s own audio, hide the overlays, or keep the background playing quieter at the level you set.

Yes. Turn on Trigger YouTube ad break on an insert and Upstream asks YouTube for an ad at that moment, 30 seconds by default. The stream needs to be connected to YouTube, with Insert ads manually selected in your YouTube stream settings. An insert can also be just the ad break, with no file.

Yes. A rule can hold several inserts and they play in turn, and you can mix rule-based and timed inserts on the same stream.

No. Edit the rules or the files while it’s live and click Publish changes. The stream picks them up without stopping.
