Upload HEVC and MOV Videos and Re-encode Them in Upstream

Working with a video should not require a separate conversion tool before you can start streaming.

Upload HEVC and

Upstream now supports HEVC/H.265 and MOV uploads. We have also added built-in video re-encoding, so you can fix compatibility problems or prepare a video for more reliable streaming without leaving Upstream.

Upload HEVC and MOV videos directly

You can now upload HEVC/H.265 and MOV videos like any other video file.

This is especially useful for videos recorded on iPhones, cameras and other devices that commonly use these formats. You no longer need to convert them before uploading them to Upstream.

When a video already works with your stream, no re-encoding is required. If it needs different settings, Upstream gives you the option to re-encode it.

Build in the cloud

Build the stream in the cloud.

Schedule videos, produce browser-based live shows, or send one feed to multiple platforms from the same Upstream workflow.

Re-encode videos inside Upstream

If a video needs different settings, select Fix with reencode directly in Upstream.

You can choose to:

  • Replace the original video
  • Create a new optimized copy

Upstream will prepare the video using the recommended settings for your stream. You can follow its progress while it is being processed, and your original remains available if you choose to create a duplicate.

Re-encoding can help when a video has compatibility problems, an unusually high bitrate or settings that are not ideal for streaming.

Re-encoding time

Active trials and paid plans include re-encoding time. Your available balance is shown before processing begins.

If you need more time, you can add it without leaving the re-encoding workflow. Purchased re-encoding time does not expire.

Supported video formats

You can upload MP4, MOV, WebM and Ogg video files, including videos using H.264 and H.265/HEVC.

For the widest compatibility across platforms and devices, MP4 with H.264 remains a reliable choice. When another format needs adjustment, you can now re-encode it directly in Upstream.

These improvements are available now. Upload your videos, add them to your stream and let Upstream handle the rest.
