YouTube metadata guide
Turn a truthful video brief into a complete metadata pack
The generator creates one recommended title, five alternatives, a description, tags, hashtags, and a pinned comment from the details you provide. It is a drafting tool, not a source of facts about your video. Give it the real topic, audience, key points, and call to action, then review every line before publishing.
Describe the actual video
Use the topic field for the clearest one-sentence summary of what a viewer will get. Add the specific facts, steps, examples, or guests in Key points. If a detail is not in your brief, the finished metadata should not promise it.
Use one primary keyword naturally
Choose the phrase that best matches the viewer's intent and the video itself. The generator can place it near the start of the description and use related wording elsewhere. Repeating the same phrase unnaturally makes the copy harder to read.
Edit the pack as one promise
The title and thumbnail set the expectation; the description, tags, and pinned comment should support the same topic. Remove generic alternatives, correct names and claims, and make the call to action specific to the next step you actually want viewers to take.
A useful brief includes
- A concrete topic and the audience the video is for.
- The key points the title and description are allowed to claim.
- One primary keyword, a preferred tone, and an optional call to action.
How your brief is processed
When you select Generate Metadata, the form sends your brief to Upstream's AI generation service. The brief does not remain only in your browser, so do not enter passwords, private customer information, unreleased financial data, or other confidential material.
